A study day examining the genre of Still Life painting. The emphasis of the day will be allegory, metaphor and narrative. We will follow the development of the Still Life from the Renaissance to the 21st Century and try to uncover the stories they tell.

Are the objects depicted in Still Life paintings more than just a representation? Perhaps we can find the bigger pictures. A journey from Mary’s lily to Andy’s soup can with plenty of places on route.
